On and South Korean fashion label POST ARCHIVE FACTION are closing out their six-season collaboration with one last running shoe: the Cloudsoma PAF.
Part trail runner, part design object, the shoe takes On’s existing Cloudsoma and pushes it firmly into PAF territory. The upper uses quick-drying, abrasion-resistant materials, with asymmetric lacing, flowing panels and a pattern inspired by rock formations and mountain terrain. Underneath, it keeps On’s CloudTec Connect system and Missiongrip outsole.
There are three colourways: Cobble/Raven, Black/Black and Haze/Linen.
But the shoe is only part of the story.
For the final Current Form collection, On and PAF worked with South African land artist Strijdom van der Merwe to create a permanent circular stone running loop in Tenerife. The installation is designed to function as both artwork and a place for runners to use, extending the collaboration beyond the shoe itself.
The Cloudsoma PAF launches globally on September 3, through On, PAF and selected retailers. Pricing varies by market, with select retailers listing it at around $325.
Six seasons in, this is a fitting way for the On x PAF partnership to end: less about making a louder version of an existing running shoe, and more about asking what a trail shoe can look like when performance, fashion and landscape are allowed to overlap.
