NNormal Moves Beyond Trail Running With Its First Alpine Collection

NNormal is taking its trail-running philosophy higher into the mountains with its first dedicated Alpine Capsule—a four-piece collection developed for everything from winter running and fast mountain days to climbing, mountaineering and ski touring.
The brand, founded by Camper and Kilian Jornet in 2022, says trail running will remain its central focus. Rather than signalling a change of direction, the new collection expands the same ideas—low weight, freedom of movement and long-term durability—into more technical alpine terrain.
Tested by Kilian, refined in Norway
The collection has a convincing development story behind it. Early prototypes accompanied Jornet during Alpine Connections, where he linked the Alps’ 4,000-metre peaks, and States of Elevation, his human-powered journey across the major summits of the American West.
His feedback helped shape the final garments before further testing in Norway’s cold, wet and technical mountain conditions.
“For me, running, climbing and ski touring are different ways of exploring the same mountains,” Jornet explains. “It felt natural for NNormal to develop products that reflect that.”
That crossover is the central idea behind the capsule. These are not heavily specialised expedition pieces designed for a single activity. Instead, NNormal wants them to move between winter trail runs, fast alpine ascents and longer days above the tree line.
Four pieces built for higher ground
The headline product is the Storen Mig Insulation Jacket, named after Store Skagastølstind—better known as Storen—one of Norway’s most significant mountaineering peaks.
The €350 jacket combines 100-gram PrimaLoft Gold insulation with a lightweight and abrasion-resistant Pertex Diamond Fuse outer fabric. It also features a helmet-compatible hood, adjustable waist, concealed cuffs and a two-way waterproof AquaGuard zip that can be opened around a climbing harness.
It is joined by the Alpine All Mountain Pants, priced at €160. These use an abrasion-resistant fabric with a water-repellent treatment, shaped knees and tapered lower legs. Side openings and adjustable hems allow the trousers to fit around different types of mountain footwear.
The Tech Hoodie provides the collection’s clearest connection to fast mountain running. Designed as a technical second layer for winter runs and high-output alpine efforts, it is described by NNormal as one of Jornet’s most trusted pieces during his recent projects. The black version is priced at €160.
Completing the system is a €90 Merino Long Sleeve, made entirely from merino wool and intended as a lightweight base layer for cool-weather running, hiking and multiday mountain objectives.

Trail gear without the usual boundaries
NNormal’s move into alpine clothing makes sense when viewed through Jornet’s own approach to the mountains. Trail running, climbing and ski touring are rarely treated as completely separate activities in his projects; they are different tools used to travel through the same terrain.
The Alpine Capsule follows that thinking. It is still recognisably NNormal—minimal, technical and focused on movement—but broadens the brand beyond shoes, race vests and conventional trail apparel.
For trail runners who continue training through winter or regularly move between running, scrambling and more technical mountain terrain, that crossover may be the most interesting part of the release.
